My Charater Description!

We are learning how to write a character description using similes.
Mr Tankersly

His hair is like snow on a mountain with little specks of black. His cheery smile brings happiness to even the grouchiest persons heart. Shiny glasses sparkle in the sunlight like a mirror reflecting your watch. He loves to wear dark clothes, but no matter how dark they are they always seem bright when he wears them. His glow with satisfaction like a blue moon when he is happy with your work.

He enjoys to make up pieces on the piano and then sing something like "Have a nice day!" While playing the piano. He is usually jolly but can be extremely serious. When he is serious his tone is stern but soft. So stern in fact that even the strongest giant would cower under his gaze. His morning jokes are always funny. His pace is slow like an old man crossing the road but steady like someone in a egg and spoon race. He is always busy and wandering around.

Whenever I play a piece he gives me feedback and feedforward. At every concert I go to his smile fulls the room with happiness. People enjoy being around him because of his laughter and kindness to others. Everyone looks forward to his amazing concerts and joke about how his name is Roy and he lives on Roy Street I always think " Why is his name the same as his street name."! His sessions with me are always interesting and enjoyable, I always look forward to them.

You can tell what he likes because of all the photos and music books clustered in his music room. Photos on his walls show the past of his musicial life.  You can hardly tell which piece he has been playing lately because of the pile of pieces on his Organs seat. At the end of my sessions I am always sad to leave " Why does time fly by when you are having fun!" I sadly think. Mr Tankersly is the best piano teacher in the universe!

Kidsedchatnz posters.

We are learning about Kidsedchatnz and how the different twitter symbols work.

In class we did some art on a twitter program Kidsedchatnz. This is whom we made it. We went on the pages app on the laptop and made a giant text box. We chose some colors and wrotre some words about Kidsedchatnz. Then when Stephensaid we could print it we printed it in A3 sized paper. Once it was printed we coloured in a giant twitter bird bright blue and stuck it on the poster. After that we got  our art books and practised the twitter symbols on a page. Once you think your finished you show it to Stephen. If Stephen likes your work he gives you a piece of paper to do the real thing. When you are finished you stick the symbols on the bird and colour them in. Then it is finished! Here is a picture of mine.

Production

Finally the real thing. This is a video of the performance of the production. Under it is my reflection about it.

Production Writing

The moment I strolled through the door of the Regent Theatre I knew that this was it, the real production. I had butterflies fluttering constantly around inside my stomach.

As I begain the hugemoungus struggle up the long winding staircase, my mind kept on flying off of things and onto others. " This is going to be fine." I thought silently to myself. Suddenly Amy trotted over to me and yelled over the racus around us, " quickly sprint down to ukelele!" I raced down the long winding staircase this time without the giant struggle.

The moment my foot touched the hard stonelike floor of the wings I knew something was atterly wrong. My ukelele had disappeared (dunh dunh dunh!) I tiptoed loudly around all the other ukuleles only to find, a ton of disappointment striking me like lightning. My ukelele was nowhere to be seen. Finally I found it the box with the untuned ukeleles inside. Jennifer imideitly picked it up and quickly started to tune it. I felt myself being flooded with excitement.

All of a sudden it was time for the ukelele group to preforme. I bounced on stage like a ball being passed between two children. Then the music started. When we finished nothing happened. Silence. More silence. Then the audience started applausing like maniacs.

Soon Kapahaka were preforming. I jumped on stage and flew into position. When all of our magnificent dancing and singing was over the crowd burst into applause. Only one thing stopped me now. It was... The wait!

Finally, the gigantic wait was over! I headed downstairs to backstage with my huge class, stampeding   around like a herd of wild horses. As we watched the class before us finish, the butterflies in my stomach started to thump onto the the sides of my tummy. I could feel them tumbling down to the bottomless pit below. Then it was my classes turn to preforme.

I shivered uncontrollably. This was nerve wrecking! Suddenly the music began and the girls and boys in my class began to groove to the beat. The audience were captivated and I was relived! I tumbled onstage like someone being pushed onto hard concrete. Then it was time for the boys to bow and go offstage and the girls come onstage and blow kisses to the audience. I slipped on stage and blew two quick kisses.

It was all over very quickly. Then it was the school dance.

The teachers were all ready for their dance. Stephen was wearing a hideous orange dress and beautiful blue boots. Everyone laughed when David was reveled as Bugs Bunny from Loony Tunes.

I got into position for the school dance. The song started and the dancing begain. I started groove to the beat. Ten it was over the whole production was over.

I raced to the changing rooms and jumped into my comfortable clothes then I raced down stairs and zoomed onstage. There they were, my parents come to get me.

"Oh what a day!" I thought to myself as I snuggled under my covers. I fell asleep very quickly, dreaming of what would happen the next day.

Cross Country Reflection

Before The Race:
Today at RSS the Seniors and the Juniors had a Cross Country Race at school. A Cross Country Race is when there is a course that you have to race on with others.  I felt very nervous before my race because I didn't know what place I would come. As I stood in line I thought about my goal (to not stop running) and thought about how I was going to achieve this goal.

During the race:

"TOOT"went the horn that told us when to start, I raced off as fast as could hoping that I would not come last. As I turned the corner that lead to Rongipai started to jog then I realized how close some other girls were so I began to sprint again.

After The Race:

After the race I almost collapsed I was so exhausted. I walked up to my mother and I received a gigantic hug. Then went back to class and got my brunch out.

Swimming Sports

Swimming sports!

On Thursday the 7th of March I went to the School Swimming Sports at the Lido, to compete in some swimming races against children my age. At the Lido I was going to do some length races. The length races are when you race 25m against children your age and the first person to touch the end wall wins! I was competing in 3 out of 3 races which were freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. In the width races you do flutterboard races, and noodle races.
When we arrived, the width races were about to begin and they were amazing. The kids who were competing were not confident in the pool, but that was really hard to believe! After the width races there were the lengths, first up were they year sixes doing freestyle. The year sixes were EXTRAORDINARY, they looked like darts ripping threw the water! Next were the year fives and I was cheering my head off for my friends Keona and Maia! Then finally it was my Freestyle race.
When Ngaire called out my name I got up and walked to the diving board. Then David blew his whistle “TEET!” and I got into the water. “On your marks get set, HONK!” We were off, I began to concentrate and I thought, “Chin on my chest, check, legs straight, check, feet kicking small and fast, check, perfect!” As I zoomed across the pool loudly, I could hear people cheering around me. In the end I managed to come fourth, I was very proud of myself!
Next was my backstroke race, it took some time to get to do my race but finally I did it. As I swam I felt as though I was a dolphin shooting through the water. My body was hitting the lane rope but I kept on going! The moment I felt the wall beneath my fingers I turned around, back onto my stomach but time, I didn't know what place I came.
Then finally it was time for my breaststroke race; the race I was most looking forward to! As Ngarie called out peoples names, I was thinking about my strategy. All of a sudden I realised that Ngarie had stopped calling out peoples names. I looked around me, asking people frantically if they were in the breaststroke race. I felt nervous, wondering if I'd been forgotten. Every single person I had asked, had answered with a no! I ran as fast as I could to my mother, telling her about everything that had happened. Then I told Ngraie, Stephen and Olivia about what had happened. It turned out, I wasn't the only person who hadn't been called out to do the breaststroke races anf my friend Hannah didn't get to as well! All of a sudden Jaquie asked me what had happened so I told her that Hannah had missed out to. After that, Jaquie talked with David about it and in the end they decided that Hannah and I were going to share a lane in the finals instead! As Ngarie called out the breaststroke final people, I ran over quietly to Hannah to tell her what was happening.
I walked to the diving board, I felt more nervous than ever! All of a sudden David blew his whistle "TEET!" I slid into the water. Then David said "On your marks, get set, GO!" I pushed myself off the wall, I flew threw the water and I saw I was leaving Hannah behind me. Then I felt the wall slide against my fingers and the crowds cheers were sticking to my ears like glue. I quietly pulled myself onto the ground above me. Suddenly, Ebony came up to me and told me that I had come third! I felt extremely proud of myself! I really enjoyed Swimming sports!
After Swimming sports we went to the esplanade and had some lunch there. After we had had our lunch we played for a while, I played with Hannah on the slide. We played a game when one person goes down the slide and waits at the bottom, and another person goes down and they end up like a train. Then we jumped back on the bus and travelled back to school.
I had an extremly fun day because I thought swimming sports was thirlling!
The End.

Boat Race

Every week we have a Hands on Homework. Hands on Homework is when you have to go home and see if you, can do something the teacher tells you to do! Last weeks Hands on Homework was to make a boat. I made a boat based on the book The Black Stallion! To make my boat I used pollistilren and blue and red paint. I cut a block of pollistilren into the shape I wanted the boat to be. Then I stuck another bit of pollistilren on the front of the boat. After that I painted a slice of pollistilren blue, then I painted the boat and stuck the slice on the top of the boat! On Friday everybody who made a boat took them down to the school pool to race them! I was the person who jumped in to retrive the sinking boats! My boat was in the moter race, I thought it would do well but in the end it went the wrong way! Check out this cool video of the races!

My weekend

In my amazing weekend I was sick in bed in the morning on sunny Saturday for a long time listening to my Harry Potter and the Half-blood prince Cds and reading some brilliant books. I sat back relaxed and listened to my radio, in my room for the rest of the day, and I played some perfect piano. The next day I was up and about doing the same things as yesterday expect I watched some Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one.

The Triatholon

Today was an exciting day for me, because today it was the Triathlon! On the way to school I started to think about my strategies for my running. I decided to do a jog at the start and a sprint at the end.

At school Stephen talked to us about the Triathlon. When it was my turn to race I got ready at the starting line. We did some exersising, then we were off.

The running was hard because I got the stitch and by the time I got to the pool I thought I would collapse.

After the pool was the real challenge, the biking! As I climbed on my bike I thought about how far I'd gotten and zoomed off up the hill towards the field. Afterwards I felt proud of myself!

I thought the Triathlon was awesome!

Weekend

This exciting weekend, I went to the City Library and got out 16 books and 2 audio books because I love to read and listen to stories. On Saturday morning I went grasshopper tennis that is taught by Big John. I can hit the ball, keeping it in the court and no one can hit it back! Later that day, I did triathlon practice on my bike with Hannah at the school. It was fun because we also got to play in the playground. We learnt how to balance on a high plank and then walk across the tops of some logs.

On sunny Sunday, my bedroom was decorated after Dad finished painting it. My favourite thing is a silhouette of some birds sitting on a branch above my bed. It makes me feel really happy! I started to watch a good called Annie, I finished it on Monday.
