Catch me if you can.

WALT: Use a change of pace and a direction to get into a free space for a pass.
At Catch Me If You Can we have been learning about getting into space so that the person with the ball can pass to you. We have been learning this by doing several activities with Sha, like running through the court in pairs. The court is separated into three parts. In each part there are two people, these people are defenders. The two people trying to get through have to pass to each other three times before they can go to the next part. They do this by running into a free space ready to catch the ball.

Buddy time.

Today at Buddy time we created an amazing poster about ourselves and printed it out. My buddies are Azahara and Sophie. To create this poster, we used Comic Life and wrote down things about ourselves. We wrote down our favourite colour, animal and hobby. Here is the final product. We also did an assessment about our poster. We think we did an awesome job.

Editing posts.

We are learning to edit our posts and save our first draft and the next to see the progress we have made. Here is our criteria for doing this.

We had to chose a post that we thought needed improvement. I chose my Kotahitanga post because
it because it wasn't described enough. Here is a photo of my first draft.

I have worked on it and now it is more detailed.

New flag!

WALT: Read and respond to text.
One of our priorities this week is to read some articles, choose one and put it on your blog. The article I choose is about the new flag!

John Key thinks that we should change the unionuon jack in the corner of the New Zealand flag to a silver fern! Do you think this is a good idea? Why? I think we shouldn't because sometimes the silver fern is mistaken for the white feather, which is a sign of cowardence!Secondly,it is a disadvantage as it would be a big waste of money because you would have to go around changing everything that has the the old New Zealand flag on it. For example when they put an h in Whanganui, they had to change all the signs and things that had Wanganui on it. Visit this article at http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kiwikidsnews.co.nz%2Fnew-zealand-get-new-flag&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNHKrKvQgAG0qBZs172d5y-czPGfDA

Silhouette art!

In class we made some silhouette art. First we had to get a plain piece of paper and draw sgiggly coming from the middle of the paper ( when finished must have six space in between the lines.). Then  you had to chose six different pastal colours and colour in the spaces. Next you took a picture of yourself doing a pose. After that you print out the picture and cut yourself out. Lastly you trace around the cut out in a black piece of paper, cut the trace out and stick on the coloured in paper.
Then you are finished. Here is a photo of mine!

Term I goals.

These are some of my term 1 goals.

My reading goal  for term 1 is to...  Compare and contrast a variety of different texts.
The reason I have decided to focus on this goal is because... I would like to challenge myself to read things that I wouldn't usually read like magazines and newspapers.
I will accomplish my goal by...  Chosing to read different kinds of texts by doing things like when I am going to the library going to the magazine section.
I will know I have achieved my goal by... When I go into a room and there is a newspaper on the table I will walk over, pick it up and open it to the first page without even thinking about it! Also I will be able to talk about what I have read to compare and contrast stories/article about the same theme.

My maths goal is to... Add and subtract fractions.
The reason I have decided to focus on this goal is because...I know how to order fractions but I don't know how to add and subtract when they have a different denominator.
I will accomplish my goal by... Praticing and asking my teacher to help me.

Treaty poem!

WALT:  To write cinquains.
We are learning to write cinquains! This is how we made them: First you chose a word around the Treaty Of Whautangi, such as: treaty or treasure this is your title. Then we wrote two words describing the title. Next you add three verbs about the first word/title, and then you put in four adverbs. Last but not least you put in a synonym for your title.
That is how we made them. Here is mine, I hope you enjoy it!
